This project included
almost one million square feet on four levels. The lower basement level
is used for valet parking while the upper basement level includes administrative
offices. The main floor contains 100,000 square feet of gaming space,
rivaling any casino in Las Vegas. The gaming floor is divided into five
main areas or "Courts". The Mardi Gras Court, which includes
facades modeled on the nearby French Quarter and 3 full-size Mardi Gras
floats. The Smuggler's Court which is reminiscent of the Jean LaFitte
era of South Louisiana, complete with a shipwreck. This court also includes
a retail area with local concessionaires. The Jazz Court includes a
domed 40' ceiling with sky mural and fiber optic stars. The court is
surrounded with bas relief panels depicting the various forms of Jazz
music that New Orleans is noted for. The Court of the Mansion which
includes a 250-seat buffet, a 10,000 square foot ballroom, a large poker
room, and the club cappuccino coffee shop. And finally, the Court of
Good Fortune, which is designed as the high limit gaming area, including
back rooms for very high end private gaming.
